Math Software

 

 Grade Level: Kindergarten
 Objectives:
  • tell the students to identify the coins needed to make the purchase specified at the store by the customer
 Materials:
  • The software program Richard Scarry's Busytown Best Math Program Ever
  • PowerPoint Tutorial
  • Destination Machine
 Preparation:
  • make sure the Destination is free and the software is loaded prior to the lesson
  • walk through the PowerPoint tutorial together before beginning the software
 Activities:
  • Using the PowerPoint Tutorial, go through the expectations of what they will be doing with the software Richard Scarry's Busytown Best Math Program Ever
  • After the tutorial is viewed, open up the program on the Destination Machine and have the students tell you how to get into the store section of the software
  • In groups of two, have students work together to determine which coins will make up the amount the cashier at the ski store is asking for
 Evaluation:
  • Did you remember how to get into the program?
  • Did you know the correct coins to use to buy the item?
  • Did you work together and take turns with your partner?
 Follow-up:
  • Have students explain the sequence of how to get into the program to their partner and one other person
